MTville Channel Ops (Chops) Application Procedure

Qualifications:

bullet

Is a medical transcriptionist or is a currently enrolled medical transcription student or is otherwise in the MT field (i.e., an MT QA person, MT business owner, MT instructor, etc.).

bullet

Is willing to take the "X" classes.

bullet

Has a basic knowledge of IRC commands or is willing to take the beginners and advanced Undernet IRC classes.

bullet

Is a registered user with Undernet.

bullet

It is strongly suggested that MTville ops not be ops in any other MT related channels. There is no problem with them visiting other MT related channels, but it is frowned upon if they are ops in those channels.

Procedure:

bullet

Anyone who is a regular visitor to the channel and has been for a period of 2 months and who meets the above qualifications can propose their name for consideration. The proposal should be in writing, sent via e-mail to mtvillecm @ mchsi.com (remove the spaces in that address), and contain the following:

a) Statement of why the candidate wants to be an op.

b) Statement that the candidate has read and understands the channel rules.

c) Time(s) of day the candidate will typically be in channel. This does not mean specific times (like 2 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday), rather it means time(s) of day in general, i.e., mornings, afternoons, evenings, late night. Please include time zone.

bullet

Upon completion of step #1, the candidate's proposal will be submitted via e-mail to all 100+ level ops. An op level 100 or above must be willing to mentor the candidate for a period of 3 months. The ops, as a group, will accept or reject the application. (All new ops come in as a level 75. They will be advanced to level 100 at the end of their mentorship.)

bullet

If the application is accepted by the ops, the candidate's proposal will then be submitted to all 100+ ops for a vote at the next monthly meeting. A majority of "aye" votes indicates acceptance of the proposal.

bullet

Should a current op wish to propose the name of a member who meets the above qualifications for the position of op, the sponsor op can bring up the name at any monthly meeting. If the attending ops agree to the choice, then the proposed op should submit the application. That application will be considered to be pre-approved.
